MISSIONARY DISPUTE. London, December 22.

The London Missionary Society, have interviewed the Marquis o( Salisbury, urging reparation to the Rev. John Jones, who was expelltd by the French from Mare, one ot the islands. An inquiry into the matter has been held before Mr Edgar Leopold Layard, C.M.G., the English representative at Noumea. M. Goblet the French Ministei of Foreign Affairs, declared that the expulsion of Mr Jones was a measure of local policy, and does not justify any uneasiness as to religious freedom in the Islands
