Unnecessary Delay in Harvey of Claims : At the Warden's Court on Thursday last the Warden made reference to the unnecessary delay in granting licensed holdings, occasioned by surveyors not completing tbe surveys within a reasonable period, and he intimated that in future, when such long delays took place, ho intended to ask the Surveyor- General to cancel the order instructing that surveyor to do the worlc, and have someone else nominated who would finish it. The delay, which was sometimes sevoral months, was of couise intentional, being for the purpose of having the ground protected ; but he did not think ifc right that surveyors should lend themselves to such a thing, - Monthly Gold Returns : The local branch of "the Bank of New Zealand purchased gold as follows dur'nieNovember :, — Thames Boiou«h, 1062ozs 61 wt ; Thames County, 8()3oz ; OUinemuri, 143o'z I5dwt ; and Piako, 183oz Idwt ; •total) 2792oz 2dwt., • •- ; ' The first general meeting of shareholders in the New Moanabuari Gold Mining Company was held on Wednesday last at the Co.'s office, Auckland, at which there was a' largo attendance.
