Griffiths is carting the sections of thereverberatory furnace, which should all be out this week. Mr Geo. Two years ago some firstclass stone was won from this mine, anil there is no reason to suppose that it does not still continue. Crushing is going on at the Martha Company's Battery for a show about the same ns last. At Waitekauri everything is in readiness for the receipt of Mr Kersey i Cooper's plant. The old Stacey battery is expected from Te Aroha to-day. Tenders "will be called for the carting immediately. At Karangahake there is simply nothing to report. I am informed that Mr and Mrs Parkes have left for Queensland. The accident that happened to the furnace has been remedied by Mr Napier, the assayer, and everything is now in going order. Mr Chambers is expected early next week, when the plant will again be started. Crs W. G. Nicliolls, Kobson, Quinn, and Corbett, the sub-committee appointed by the County Council to report upon tha site of the propose.! Waihi Bridge, proceeded to Waihi on Tuesday for that purpose, accompanied by Mr Tetley, foreman of works. A site was chosen midI way between the old bridge site and the site recently spoken of as suitable. Mr E. M. Corbett gave it as his opin ion that the bridge could be erected for £200. I understand that the Council do not intend to avail themselves of the subsidy offered by the Tauranga County Council. j Inspector Goodwin examined the Paeroa School on Saturday and Monday last. The result is as follows : Number on Roll, 140 ; percentage of passes, 77.3. Tlie R.M. has decided not to hear the case Dickey v. Browne (for damages by trespass resulting in the death of the racehorse, Libeller) at the Thames, but at Paeroa, as the trespass took place at Paeroa, so it is alleged.
