ENTERTAINMENT AT MORRINSVILLE.

On Friday evening last a concert and dance, in aid of forthcoming athletic sports, was held in the schoolroom, and was the most successful of its kind ever held here. Long before the appointed time of opening, the room, which had been very tastefully decorated with flags, ferns, etc., was filled to overflowing. Owing to the absence of Mr Harrison, who was to have presided, Mr F. Pavitt occupied the chair, and in a few wellchosen remarks opened the meeting, The programme, which was gone through in a manner reflecting the greatest credit upon the different performers, and listened to by a most appreciative audience, was as follows t — Song, " Ship boy's Letter," Mr E. R. Horrell ; song, (From Patience), Mr Hay- Chapman ; song, "My old wife and I," Mr Pavitt : song, "My Queen," IMr Currie ; song, " Bide-a-wee " Miss C, Anderson ; recitation, " The Curfew shall not ring to-night," Miss Howe ; song, " England, Europe's Glory," Mr Fred Horrell ; duet, (From Patience), Miss Anderson and Mr Chapman ; recitation, " Our Folks," Mr Nelson ; song, " Bay of Biscay," Mr Waring ; song, " Rather," Mr Miller ; recitation, " The Banker's dream," Mr Marshall ; song, Miss Anderson ; song, *" The place where the old Horse died," Mr Chapman ; song, " My Solicitor" Mr J, Anderson ; recitation, " How we beat the favourite," Mr Nelson, " God Save the Queen*' having been sung, and a vote of thanks passed to the chair, the room was cleared for dancing, about twenty couples taking part. About one o'clock an adjournment was made for supper, and it is almost needless to say that in a short time full justice was done to the good things provided, and dancing having again been speedily resumed was kept up till about 3 a.m., when a final break up was made. - It is expected that about £9 will be netted.
