PUNT AT MURPHY'S LANDING.

As will be seen by advertisement, tenders are invited by Piako County Council for the right to run a punt at Murphy's Landing, Waiorougomai. It is stated in the advertisement that conditions can be seen at Mr Collins store, Waiorongomai. For the information of our readers we have obtained, and herewith publish, a copy of the conditions referred to, " Conditions under which applications will be received for the right to run a punt across the Waihou river at Waiorongomai :-— 1. The successful applicant (lessee) will be required to provide, of good and well seasonable timber, at his own cost, a punt thirty feet long by thirteen feet wide, and to place same on the Waihou river at Murphy's landing, Waiorongomai. 2. The punt is to be ran for the convenience of the public at the following rates : — For each foot passenger, threepence; for each horse and rider, sixpence; for each horse, sixpence ; for each vehicle, sixpence ; for every head of sheep, one penny ; for every head of cattle, threepence. Passengers, hones, and vehicles, not to be charged for re-crossing the river on the same day. 3. The punt to be run at these rates from six (6) a.m. until seven (7) p.m., at other times, double rates. 4. The lessee to fix the ropes, chains, and gearing at the punt so as not to interfere with steamers or other traffic on the river. 5. The Council will have the option at any time by giving the lessee three month's notice in writing of their intention so to do, to terminate the agreement, and if the agreement is so terminated, the Council will be in no way liable for the whole, or any part, of the cost of the punt or gear. 6. Upon the Council terminating the agreement as aforesaid, all rights, powers, or privile ;es, conferred on the lessee in respect of charging tolls or levying payments for the conveyance of passengers, &c, shall absolutely cease and determine. 7. The Council will agree not to grant any similar privileges to any person or persons in respect to any ferry within one mile of the site of the ferry herein referred to. Applications must reach me, if directed to Cambridge, by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the 10th prox ; or if forwarded to Morrinsville, by 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, the 11th. Applicant must state what sums, if any, they are prepared to fay for the right to ran the punt, or what subsidy, if any, they require for working it. The successful applicant will be required to sign an agreement embodying the foregoing conditions, as soon as the same can be conveniently prepared. Chas. Tuck, County Clerk, Piako County.
