A rumour has been in circulation this week to the effect that the Onent Company intended tendering lor the San Francisco mail contract, which expires shortly. The Melbourne conespondent of the " Sydney Telegraph " interviewed Mr Yuill, the manager of the Company, who has just returned fiom London. He stated that he belie\ed theie wa? no truth in the rumour ; he had received no communication on the subject from the London directors, and could not understand the origin of the uiraour. Daring his visit to England he bi ought under the notice ol the directors se\eral matters connected with tiafhc anangement?, but these were of minoi importance.
