THIS CROYDON MURDER.
Duhamel, the murderer of Mrs l'rouo Descurry, at Croyclon (Q.) 5 has entirely lecoveredj and is now penitent. It is believed he is a French escapee, and one ot the tour recidivistes who landed at Bowen 10 j-ears ago. The police are of opinion that tne Roman's husband might have probably come in the same boat. Deceased was a cleanly sober woman, and Duhamel always conducted hansel* well ; the outbiealc oi ierocity, therefore, caused considerable surpribe. Duhamel has been committed for trial. He confessed having committed the mime. He ta:d that belore doing so he smoked rhree cigarettes to give the \\ oman time to reconsider her decision to go with hi& (DuhameFs) rival. Gioves, a witness, deposed that Duhamel, long after the nun der, ottered him €6 to beat his brains m with a hammer.
