OUR MINING EXHIBITS AT MELBOURNE.

Tire proved poor display of the mining exhibits of the colony at bho Melbourne Exhibition has attracted considerable attention throughout the colony, and in no place has ib aroused public interest more than in Auckland. In consequence, two. photographs of the Exhibition, dealing directly with these exhibits, that wore ex hibited in the window ot Mr J, H. Williofovcl's ollice to-day drew largo numbeis of spectators. The photographs w ere specially taken for Mr Wilheford, who is at present in Melbourno and sent over by him. One icpvesonts the mining court at the rear of the Now Zealand Court, with Mr Witheford gazing with feelings of regret on the exhibits which he writes make " tho poorest display of minerals mado by any of the gold producing colonies at the exhibition. " The other photograph gives a marked contrast, representing as it does the splendid mineral exhibits displayed in the Ta&maman Court, and which have been described as the best on view. The grand mining trophy set round to advantag6 by no mere museum specimens, shows that care and expense have not been spared in making a paying display.
