MI NI NG NE WS.
-*- ~ — 'W Visit of j\l r Soaver to Tni. — Mr Server, mining engineer and analyst, who has paid frequent visits to Marototo .ami other parts of tlie Ohinemuri field of late to report on various mining properties which worn placed under offer to the Sydney syndicate on whose behalf Messr 0 Seaver and Myers are acting, arrived at Te Aroha on Saturday evening last, and early on Monday morning paid a brief visit to Tui district. Mr Reaver inspected the Champion Lode claims, but spent most, of his time in inspecting the Earl of Aberdeen claim ; which we understand is under offer to the syndicate, Mr Reaver is not one to freely express his opinion", which is not to be wondered at peeing lie is acting on behalf of others, but no doubt the result of his trip will shortly be made known. Mr Seaver left by thetwo o'clock train for Auckland on Monday, beino: under pnsrnqemenfc to moot his associate Mr TT. S. Myers in Auckland, as Mr Myers proceeded to Sydney yesterday in connection with the recent properties purchased bv the syndicate. We understand it is Mr Seaveis intention to return to Te Aroln at nn early date for the purpose of more fully investigating the merits of (he mines in this district. Ohinemnri Mines Purchased : — Mr TT. S Meyers left for Sydney yesterday, taking with him plans <\n<l particular respecting various mining properties recently purchased for the Sydney syndicate. On most of these claims but little woik has yet been done, and they aro put forward for their prospective mine as containing reefs which have been tested on other claims, In one of them, the Silver Queen, a reef has been discovered which on being tested has j produced up to four hundred ounces of silver to the ton. Other properties are, the Eureka, Dead Heat, Ilinemon, etc, J situated at Marototo. j Work is steadily progressing in connection with several of the Tui mines. Mr Comes' eldest son, William, who Ims \ been prospecting, this week brought down some stone of excellent quality, but has not located the place from where it was obtained. The reef cut in the Silver Kins: :—: — On Monday evening the reef was met with in the level jusfcput in in the Silver Kins? claim, Waioroncromai. The country passed through is all that could be desired, and the reef presents a most promising appearance, the stone broken out being fully equal to any yet obtained from this claim. This is a circumstance of great importance, fully sustaining the hitfh reputation of the mine. The Werahiko mine will also be greatly enhanced in value by the improved prospects in the Silver King, as the reef at present dips fair to enter the Werahiko ground, at, a distance of only a few chains. As a matter of fact, shares in the Werahiko (the right to occupy which i (bfiirur a forfeited claim), was sold in the Warden's Court only the other day to Mr IT. IT. Adnms for £2 2s), have within the past few days changed hands at values representing £1200 for the mine. Tbo recent, discovery in the Colonist mine, is being developed, and promises well, and there is an active enquiry for shares at about 3s Gd, but no sellers.
