OHINEMURI. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PAEROA, Tuesday.
It is alleged that a case of typhoid fever has occurred at Paeroa, the patient being a young 1 matt named James Barrett, whose parents reside at Rotokuhn, It is quite possible however that it is not true typhoid fever, the medical faculty in the district disagreeing as to the The patient wdl bo sent to tho Thames Hospital to-day.
While Mr Chcimin, M.TT.R., was in Pnevoa he was interviewed by several persons interested in mining with regard to the constitution of a AVarden's Court at Paeroa. Mr Cadman thought that as ii, had boon shown that the Government would not require to expend a large sum, there should be no dilTicnHy in tho matter. With regard to the objections that had cropped up, i.e. that the township of Paeroa was just outside the goldfields boundary, that wag a mere trifle, as practically no one could deny Paeroa was nothing if not a mining township. The matter however largely depended on the attitude of the Warden. Mr Cadman promised to see the WarJen and lay the matter before him. ft may be mentioned that no less than twcnf;'~fire persons from the Ohinemuri district attended thelast Warden's Court at tho TJia?ne«, not to mention that the same individuals had had sundry preliminary trips on the same account before, and also have since. I understand that another Marototo claim lins passed into the hands of the Sydney people, and ifc is also unreservedly stated that the purchase of tho Woodstock and Kenilwortli by tho Syndicate, represented by Mr King, of .Melbourne, is only a matter of u month or so. The Warden (Mr Northcroft) it is I expected will leave Thames forMarototo ; this (Tuesday) morning for the purpose of inspecting several claims for which applications for licenses were made last \ Thursday at the Warden's Court, Thames, j and adjourned in order that he might make a personal inspection of the areas applied for.
