recent heavy ruins have provided the necessary motive power, and both battery, tailings plant and furnace, were again set going last week. Work was also resumed in the New Find mine, and it is ore from this claim the stampers are reducing. A new building is now in course of erection by the Battery Company, as an addition to their tailings plant, and for the storage of tailings as received from the battery. This building will measure 30 feet by 40 feet, 16 feet studs, and will be roofed with galvanised iron. The roof will extend above 'the line of tramway, which connects the tailings plant with the battery, so that the truck loads of tailings will be tipped direct into tho building, from whence the tailings are carried direct to the furnace by means of an elevator. It is rumoured the Battery Company contemplato the erection of a smelter, for the treatment of refractory ores.
