Proposed Loan—Resolved on the motion SL , C S airman » seconded by Cr Dearle-(l) wn t:,; Council ; s intention * »*» » oan of LllOO,, as referred to in the letter fioni the Colonial Treasurer, dated Feb. 23rd bo forthwith advertised, and that publio meetings, in connection with the proposed loan, in accordance with clause 34 of « Local Bodies Loans Act, 1886, beheld in the several Ridings of the County, on the 13th April next, and that a poll of the ratepayers in reference to above loan, in accordance with clause 37 Load Bodies Loans Act, 1886 be taken on April 25th, 1886. ' (2.) And thata special meeting of Council be held on April 28th, 1888, for the purpose of levying a special rate by way of security for such loan. J Before the above resolutions were pufc to the meeting, Cr Strange said the allocation with respect to proposed loan appeared to have been made without the inspection by the Engineer of the Riding he represented ; this he did not consider fair; and certainly L9O appe.ii ed a very small and inadequate sum lo allocate for woifcs within Woitoa Ridmij as compared with the amount contributed Ihere--fioin in lates. L9O voul.l not suffice to Jinish the road in Waitoa Ridmg properly it *ould take UO or L5O, more to make that portion of the rond over the suanip good. lhc Gbanman replied that Council had doi c their best to allocate the Joan as faiily as possible, taking all tlie vanous circumbtciiicts into conwdeiatioii. Cr Strungo: Will th 0 Council guarantee that eaily next year, if it cannot- be done now ! they «iH complete ihe work I have icfened to satisfactorily? Cr Quinn: We hope lo be in a better position next year, and I will support you to get L5O for that work. Ci'Mooie: And so will I. j The motion was then pufc and carried. Notice of Motion : Cr Quinn gave notice of his intention to mo\c, That a special meeting of Council be held on April aBth for the purpose of making provision for interest on piopofeed loan of LllOO, by means of a special rate. This concluded all the business, and Council rose at 5.45 p.m.
