TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of Te Aiolia Town Board was held on Thursday evening Jast, at 7 p.m. Present-Coun-cillors Dobson (chair), Frazer, Gavin, and Ilott. Minutes of the previous monthly meeting were read and confirmed ; after which correspondence, outward and inlaid was read, none of which was of any special interest. Overdraft:— The Chairman stated he had, in company with Corns Frazer and Ilott (the committee appointed at last meeting- for that purpose), interviewed the local agent of Bank of N.Z., and ai ranged for an overdraft of £150, pending the receipt of pnblican's license fees, in order that the Board might at once call for tenders, and have the footpaths, etc., within the township put in as good repair as the funds at their disposal would permit, before the winter set in. Assessment Couit :— Com Frazer, on behalf of himself, the Chairman, and Com Ilott, the Committee appointed at "last meeting to represent the Board at the Assessment Court ; reported that the Board's objection to the whole of the Valuation Roll, compiled by Messrs Crump and Lavery, had been sustained, and that the Judge of the Assessment Court had ordered a new valuation to be rsade, and appointed Messrs G. Wilson and F. Pavitt as valuator, and assistant valuator. Town Improvements .'—The plans and specifications in connection with the proposed improvements within the township in the matter of footpaths, etc., as prepared by the Engineer, were approved subject to slight alterations, and it was resolved that the Chairman and Clerk interview the Engineer, pointing out the slight alterations desired, and authorise him to call for tenders for the works ; returnable Friday, 16th inst. Resolved that a special meeting of the Board be held.on Fiiday 16th inst at 7 p m., to open and accept tenders. Some discussion took place relative to the large open drain recently cut alongside the Wainrongomai road, opposite Mr Mackies house, and the opinion* was expressed that it would be necessary to have I same fenced. ! Resolved, That the Chairman and Clerk be constituted a committee on behalf ot the Board to wait on Pinko County Council on the occasion of their next meeting, to be held tit Te Aroha, re above drain and other local matters. Obstruction : — Resolved that the Chairman and Clerk be requested to inspect and repoit on the road stated to be fenced across by Mr Jas. Clarke, and report to the Board. Accounts amounting to £9 15s were past for payment,
