I'iako County Council, in consequence of the great annoyance Mr James Clarke has occasioned by continual complaints as to the injury done to land he occupies by a sire am of water which ran through it, and Council having already expended a considerable sum (probably close on £G0) in trying in every possible way to satisfy Clarke, at last decided to end the worry but diverting the water into a fresh channel altogether. No sooner was this done, and the culvert across the road leading to Clarkes closed up, then Clarke wrote the County Chairman, asking permission to lay a set of pipes to convey the water across the road back through the old channel ; permission which Council refused to grunt. On Thursday, i\larch Ist, Clarke hail thu audncit), in the face of the resolution passed at last monthly meeting of Council, to open up the main County road right across, ami lay a set of pipes, determined to have the water (respecting which he so worried the Council) back again.
