MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF A LOCAL STOREKEEPER.

On Thursday afternoon lust Mr Yatc, storekeeper at Waiorongomai, unexpectedly left his home, and ban not sim-o returned or been seen. Ilia wife was in Te Arolm for several hours that day, and on her return found Mr Yate was not about, and no one knew where he had gone to, but on the dressing table was found a note by his wilV. referring to their property, his wishes with respect thereto, his will* etc., and in a postscript be stated lie was tired of thi< life, and intended to go and liedown ami din. Ever since it became known he was missing, search parties have been out in all directions, and Sergeant Emerson has arranged for a large party tosfcirtoff uy;ain this morning to thoroughly search both the bush and low lands. He was last seen on Thursday a little before 4 p.m., about midway or. the track leading from Waiorongomai to where it connects with the main road near " Uarra." Mr Yate lias been low spirited of late, and allowed himself to worry unnecessarily aboutbusineFs, nnd the depression, but we are informed there was no special difficulty, financial or otherwise to trouble him, and this strange action of his appears unaccountable. He was a particularly steady man, and very much respected, and the greatest sympathy is expressed on every hand for Mrs Yate, to whom the affair and preaenfc suspense is something terriblp to bear. We sincerely tnwt he may yet be found alive, and bo thoroughly restored.
