EXAMINATION of MINE MANAGERS. Wellinoton, January 10

The fii'st examination o! candidates for certificates of proficiency under the Mining Act, 1886, will take place at the Thames at the end of the present month, under the superintendence of Mr Montgomery, Director of the School of Mines. The Examining Board, who have prepared necessary papers, consist of the Director of the Geological Survey, Surveyor-General, Chief Inspector of Machinery, Inspecting Engineer of the Mines Department, and an Inspector of .Mines.- Another examination will be held at Keef ton shortly afterwards, under the supervision of Mr Thos. Fenton, formerly of Thames.
