CHARGE OF FORGERY. The charge against Charles Aiclcen, ledger keeper ot" the Bank of New Zealand, of uttering a forged cheque was called at the Police Court, to-day. The cheque could nol be produced, and the Magistrate decided that in its absence the prosecution could not proceed, and the pt honor \\\xs discharged. The Board of Education to-day, settled the vexed question of Readers, by deciding that the following reading books be sanctioned for use in the public rchools, to be introduced gradually, from ami nfier January next: Primers and standard 1 to 4, inclusive, Longman's New Readers, Standards 5 and 0, Mac- Williams Illustrated Globe Readers.
