DEFIANCE OF COERCION. The Home Rule Party and the Government. London, March 4.
In the House of Common 3 last ni^ht, a efcormy debate took place on the credit vote for the Irish police. Mr John Dillon defied the Government to suppress Nationalist meetings in Ireland, and declared that the Executive would be responsible for the bloodshed •which might ensue. . Sir M. Hicks-Beach, Chief Secretary for Ireland, reiterated his statement as to the necoeaity for granting an increase in the powers of the Government with regard to Ireland. The resignation of the Irish Chief Secretaryship by Sir Michael Hicks Beach ie the subject of general comment. The press express profound sympathy with the gentleman and regret at his unavoidable t'eeignation.
