OHINEMURI. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Paeroa, Friday.

At the Police Court held here before H. A. Stratford, Esq., R.M., on Wednesday last, Matthew Kinsella, farmer, Waitekauri, was mulct in a penalty of L 3 and 22s cost, for using threatening language towards Hoani Herekehu, who was indebted to Kinsella in a certain sum of money which he refused to pay. The members of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club held a meeting here on Saturday last when it was decided to get up races for the 17th and 18th of March next, and a programme of the same will be published in due course. The annual meeting of subscribers to the Ohinemuri Public Library was held in the Public Hall, Paeroa, on the 18th inst. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed and the balance sheet showed the receipts for the past year to have been L8 16s lid, in excess of the expenditure. The following gentlemen were appointed a committee of management for the ensuing year, viz : — Messrs Robson, Mitchell, Rhodes, Edwards, Lockwood, Brady, Phillips, junr., and Sullivan. The committee was instructed to continue their efforts to obtain better accommodation for the library than that afforded by the Public Hall ; and votes of thanks to the outgoing committee, and chairman, terminated the proceedings.

KARANGAHAKE. Mr Railey's plant has resumed crushing operations on a parcel of 5 tons of quartz from the Crown mine ; after which parcels will be treated from the Adeline, Moanastery,Dubbo, and Bonny Jean mines. It is stated that the directors of the Woodstock company have decided to let their mine on tribute, and that one block will be ad vertised as being open for competition very shortly.

WAIHI Tliere it a splendid show of gold bearing stone now in sight at the bottom of tho winze, in the Silverton mine. The winze is down to a depth of 38 feet below the floor of the main level, and the lode is being broken out to a full width of 6 feet without any sign of the footwall, upon which side good stone is still visible.
