London-, October 5. The report has been published that Gladstone has become a convert to the Roman Catholic religion. Gladstone has, however, denied that there is any foundation for the statement. Mr Gladstone, in receiving a deputation from Cork offering him the freedom of that city, declared that he continued in public life in order to settle the question of Home Rule for Ireland. That cause, he averred, , would ultimately triumph. He hoped that this would come to pasa shortly. A gang of raiders shot two daughters of a farmer in County Cork for refusing to give them arms which were in the farmhoase.
