Kenil worth. — About; two tons of quartz from the atopos in this mine have been forwarded to, and are now under treatment, at the Ivanhoo buttery, where the crushing is shaping for a payable return. One of the directors in this company h*3 offered to advance sufficient money to covnr cost or breaking and govvranhng 20 tous of to Swansea, Wales, and there is every prob»bility of tho offer bein^ accepted, and that a parcel of quartz Trill be despatched to Swansea foi treatment at an «*rly date. Adeline. — The stopea are looking and yielding well. From here there is now a lavg* p.iifvel of general dirt to grass, and the manager is only waiting for tho county council to improve the road preparatory to sending the whole lot to the battery for crushing purposes. Dnbbo. — Fire tons of quartz from ; this mine were eaui in yesterday to \ Paeroa, from whence it will be sent on to Auckland for shipment to Swansea. Should this parcel prove to bo remunerative, larger shipments will follow in due ! course. j Diamond. — Work in this mine was resumed in the early part of this week, < when & start w»3 made to sink a winze 1 on the No. 2 lode beueath the floor of the intermediate level. At the time this level was in progress some very good stone was met with at the point where the winze is now being sunk, and the shareholders expect to get a good patch going downwards. Scott — The tramway to connect the low level with the shoot is now fast approaching completion. This work is being carried out by Tregoweth and party, who have got « section of the mine on tribute, and who treated & parcel <ti etone some time since for the good return of one and a-half ounces per ton. There is some talk of this mine and the Ivanhoe being amalgamated and a laroe company formed with sufficient capital to thoroughly open up both properties. It is sincerely to be hoped that there is some truth in this rumour, for there has already been more th'Mi enough money frittered away in driving a lot of potterini? levels wh^ro j one main level would have served the J purposes of both mines. j
