State of the Carpentering Trade in Australasia.

The monthly report of the branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and 'Joiners in Australasia for the month of February is before us. It states that there are 1,421 members on the ! lists of the Society. Of these, 50 are in receipt of unemployed benefits, and 20 of sick benefits. The statistics of the state of trade in the several centres are set forth aa follows :—

Sydney, with 256 members on its roll and 7 unemployed, is renorted to be "overstocked," and Melbourne, with 245 members and no unemployed, is also overstocked. Adelaide is reported to be "very bad." Brisbane "slack ;" indeed, the only centre from which any good report is received i8 Perth, W.A., which is reported "very brisk."
