Wife Murder at Fiji.
The Fiji <« Times " contains the following account of a murder at Vuna : - " isewB is to hand from Vuna of a terrible tragedy which was enacted at Holmhurst, about a fortnight ago, among the Coolie labourers. One of the men,ina fit of jealousy, attacked his wife with a heavy, sharp axe, and completely sevored her head from her body. This occurred during the dinner hour, and was witnessed by two Indians, who instead of interfernng to protect the woman, ran away to tell the whitemen. These rushed to the scene of the murder, and the whole ot the labourers on the estate were organised into search parties to seek for and arrest the murderer, who had taken to flight after the commission of his horrible cnme._ These were despatched in every direction, and in the course of a couple of hours the man was discovered, captured, and brought back to the plantation. He has since been fully committed to take his trial on a charge of wilful murder."
