Hearty votes of thanks were severally pa3sed to the Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairman for their services, and the very efficient manner in which they had performed the duties allotted them. The following elections were made for the ensuing year : — President : J. B. Whyte, M.11.R. j Vice-Presidents : Messrs Farrell and Pavitt ; Treasurer : Mr G. Wilson ; Secretary : Mr A. Menzies ; Committee : Messrs Burgess, llott, Harris, Gilfbons, Bobson, Frazer, Barnes, Robson Ahier, Mills, Whitehouse, awd.Heathcote. Prior 1 to' the' annual meeting" tho outgoing coirimittee confirmed- the minutes of the previous monthly meeting, and passed accounts to the extent of £13 9s 6(1. At the conclusion of the annual meeting a first meeting of the newly-elected committee was held. The question of providing a building for library purposes, so as to do away with the item of rent, was discussed at some length, but no definite course of action was decided on. Messrs Burgess, Farrell, Barnes, and Whitehouse were appointed a special committee with which Mr Vause was to be asked to co-operate, to take the necessary steps towards getting up an entertainment in aid of the funds of the institutbn.

Annual Meeting 1 . The annual meeting of the abore was held in the Library Room on last Wednesday evening. Present : Messrs J. Farrell (chairman), A. Menzies (sec), F. Pavitt, G. Wilaon, J. Ilott, H Barnes, J. A. Dobson, and J. HeathOp te, Mills The minutes of the last annual meeting were first read and confirmed. The report and balance-sheet presented by the Secretary was then read and adopted.

Annual Report. The Committee of Management have much pleasure in, bringing before the subscribers the third annual report and balance-sheet. Although there has been a slight improvement in the district during the past twelve months, they regret to say the number of subscribers has not increased during that period, the average being about forty. The income for the year was £100 17s Bd, in which is included the Government subsidy cf I £15 7s 2d ; also proceeds of concert (£l5 15s 6d) hejd in March last. The reading room has been largely patronised by residents, and visitors to the baths. During the year there have been a large number of volumes added to the library, and the reading-room has been well supplied with colonial papers, and the leading Home periodicals and papers. Thanks are due to Mr Jas. Craig, jun., who has kept the Library well supplied with all the latest novels ; alpo to Mr Geo. Lipsey for a book case ; to Mr Jas. Hannah who provided the readingroom with a donation box, and to Messrs Vause and Mills for the supply of London papers. In accordance with the bye-laws the present office-bearers and committee will now retire, nnd it will be the duty of subscribers to elect their succesFors.
