WAIORONGOMAI BAND OF HOPE MEETING.
The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening last. There was a good attendance, Mr Purdie" in the chair. The meeting opened in the us.ual manner, after which the chairman delivered an excellent address. The following programme was gone through :— Mr Lovell, three readings, one entitled •' Tim's fiist speech " caused much amusement ; Miss Mills' reading was well delivered ; recitations by the Misses Doukin, West, Soppett, and' songs by Miss Ethel Hirst, Mr Thorns, and Mr W. I. England were well rendered and received much applause ; M r Purdie delivered two recitations in his usual excellent style. The secretary made a few remarks regarding the balance-sheet, and thanked the friends who had so kindly assisted A hearty vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings. Notwithstan ling the weather being so unsettled, it was a good and enthusiastic meeting.
