Martini- Henry. — This claim lodged seventeen ounces of gold from a small crushing. The show in the ground is very good, and will probably pay well. v United.— The winze on Meredith's leader is down 40 feet, and getting out payable quartz. The leader is very small. Just-in-Time. — This Company are getting payable stuff from the winze on No. 1, also some good stone in the stopes in the No. 2. There is every prospect of doing well. The Albion Claim has made a fair start on the drive through the Just-in-Time ground. They have got through the old workings into solid ground. A short time should give a good account of this ground. The Matawai is getting good payable stone in the upper workings; and accumulating a large paddock of quartz, which will be sent down to the battery as soon as the road is ready. The low level is being pushed on at all speed, which will open up a fine section of the reef. The Homeward Bound are crushing two or three lots, which so far shape well. That from the big reef is likely to be more than payable, and a very large quantity can "fee got out at small cost. The little leader is also likely to pay well. A good deal of gold is showing through the heap. The other lots are doubtful, but are promising. Tokatea. — The manager reports that the contractors in No. 7 level are in xery hard ground, a seam of flint striking across the face. The cleavage is toward the big reef. Stopes — A little gold is being got from the stopes and winzes in the van level, but some faces show a very broken reef. Knox and McNeil, tri outers, are getting good stone from the upper working. Dick's tribute are prospecting their section, but ! not with much success. They are getting a little gold in the stopes, but nothing of any importance. New Colonial. —The manager reports getting splendid prospects in the little leader, but not continuous. Union Beach. — The manager reports a splendid reef in the rise on the Venus reef, eighty-feet level. A little gold is showing. The reef also looks first rate in the face of the same level. The drive on the black reef is going through good country, and should be rapidly Hearing the cross leaders in that direction.
