The N.Z. Co's new steamer, Aorangi, sailed for Lytlelton at 0.30 this evening. At the Supreme Court to-day the case of Harris v. GreatreX, and Sons, claim £500, as damages for alleged wrongful dismissal, was heard. The plaintiff had been engaged in England to come out and manage the business of. Charles Greatrex, and Sons, saddlers, Walsall (England), and Wellington. He commenced duty here in March last, and was summarily dismissed at the end of May for alleged misconduct, bordering on insanity. The question for special jury was : Was the plaintiff's behaviour so eccentric and ridiculous as to justify instant dismissal. The jury found ior the plaintiff, assessing damages at £350, with costs. The Wesleyan Conference has been in committee during the greater part of today upon the subject of Home missions. During the past year the income has been £2482 6s lOd, and the expenditure £2553 17a Bd.
