THAMES MINING NKWS. Dakwin.— The Directors have instructed the manager to proceed in tlie sinking of tlic shaft, for the purpo.se of opening tip another lovol. The present 150 feet level is considered too shallow for any important discovery, and the shaft will probably bo continued another 100 feet. Work will be commenced by wages men, the Cambria Company contributing half the cost. A small i'ootwall leader in winze produced few specimens to-day. The present winze will enter the Cambria ground before the depth of the proposed new level is reached.
New Plymouth, Last Night. Heremia te Aria, who claims to be the largest owner in the block oi land at Mokim, said to have been recently leased to Mr Joshua Jones, intends to take immediate steps to prevent the working- of the coal until the question of title has been settled. With that object he will obstruct until brought before a court of law, where the matters at issue can be settled. This is the lease said to have been disposed of by Jones to an Auckland company.
