One million of new revenue is being 1 provided for to meet the falling off in the land receipts. It was announced that a property tax of one penny in the pound would bo levied, which it is expected will yield £750,000. A revision of the tariff would be necessary, providing for an increase in the duties on tea, sugar, tobacco, timber, spirits, etc. The present Free Trade policy would not be affected by these increases. The statement was well received by the House generally. -
