THE ESTIMATES.
Last Evening. The Estimates were brought down this evening. The total Consolidated Fund represents £3,895,376 as against £3,931.055 last year. The total Civil Service amounts to £29,750. The items in which Te Aroha is more particularly interested are as follows :—: — Warden and R.M., £500; forage allowance, £55; clerk, £350; clerk at Te Aroha, £80. Postal: Te Aroha postmaster, £130 ;; messenger, £36. Paeroa: Postmaster, £115 ; messenger, £36 ,• receiver of gold revenue, £100. Moioty of subsidies towards construction of tracks on Goldfields, upon subscription of one-third being contributed £10,000 ; aids to prospecting £500. The past week 8 business has been of a most useless character, excepting the Financial Statement, delivered on Wednesday evening, the real effect and bearing of which has not yet been discussed.
