FOOTBALL.

MEETING OF SUB-UNION.

A meeting of the Taihape Rugby sub-Union was held last night, when ~uere Wvi'c present: —Messrs. G. IV. Vv nghtson (chair), 0. Murphy, W. Bennett, E. Maher, Sutherland, E. A. Beiliss, M. N. McLaughlan, S. F. Reid, J. Ryan, E. Cowie, T. Bradley and the secretary.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed It was explained that the seven-a-side tournament which had been arranged for Thursday last had to be postponed on account, of the weather, and it was decided that the tournament be held on Thursday, 11th inst. Re the altering of the decision come to at the previous meeting with regard to a referee for ..he match last Saturday, the chairman explained the position which had arisen, and it was resolved that the action taken in securing an outside referee be endorsed by the Union. The referee of Saturday’s game wrote with reference to having to order a pmyer off I.he field, and it was resolved that the player concerned be cautioned, and ’that no further action be taken.

'The resignation *of Mr. S. Dunbar as delegate for the Mataroa Club was accepted with regret.

It was decided than, the final of the junior competition be played on Saturday next, at 1.30 p.m., and that the Huia-Pirates match be played on the same day at 3 p.m.

It was decided that Mr. A. W. Thompson be asked to referee khe senfor match, the decision being received with applause by the delegates. Mr. Kelsall was appointed to referee the junior match. It was decided that in the event of both cups being won on Saturday, a smoke social be held in Ithe evening, when the trophies will be presented. A long informal discussion took place regarding the recreation ground and the proposal to carry out improvements, but no further resolution was carried.

Regarding the conveniences on the Oval, the delegates were of opinion .that they should be left open on any day that the ground was engaged, and Mr. Reid agreed to represent the matter to the Council.

The amended rules of the Wanganui Union were submitted, and Messrs. G. W. Wrightson, W. V. Kelsall, W. Bennett, R. Cowie, E. A. Beiliss, and S. F. Reid were appointed a committee to consider the rules and report to a later meeTTng. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
