ARMED OUTBREAK EXPECTED. Received 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 7. The -Daily Mail states that armed outbreaks are expected,on the 25th, synchronizing with the strike. The Republican army is organised on the British model, and is officered by exservice men. The present head of the Sinn Fein Intelligence Department held a position with capacity and distinction in France during the war, and has an a intimate knowledge of British methods, which he then applied with extraordinary efficiency and effect. CORK’S STARVING MAYOR. Receivqjl 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 7. English friends of Mr McSweeney are imploring Sinn Fein to call off the hunger strike and release the victim from his oath. Received 9.20 a.m, LONDON, Sept. 7. The Star states that Mr Lloyd George’s offer 'to release the hunger strikers if murders in Ireland cease is not taken seriously in Dublin. Such a condition is regarded as useless; inasmuch as Sinn Fein never acknowledged responsibility for the murders, and no one is likely to give such- a guarantee. LONDON, Sept. 7. Mr Lloyd George states if appeals for the release of McSweeney are accompanied by guarantees that murders will cease ,McSweeney and other hunger-strikers will be released, hut his unconditional release would have a disastrous result on the morale of the Irish police.
