EASTERN TROUBLES.
MESOPOTAMIAN REVOLT. BRITISH FORCE OVERWHELMED. Received 9.20 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 7. A War Office Mesopotamia communique states that the garrison of the camp at Samawah railway station was being withdrawn to the town, an armoured train covering the operation, when the train broke down and was rushed by four thousand insurgents. The crew made a resolute defence and inflicted five hundred casualties before they were finally overpowered. Forty, including two Bfltish officers, are reported missing. The insurgents captured with the train a thirteen, pounder gun, three machine-guns and forty boxes of ammunition. HOSTILE DEMONSTRATIONS, Received 9.20 a.m. ' LONDON, Sept. 7. A report states that owing to a hostile demonstration, the political agent at Hit has been withdrawn. A train from Samara was fired on and was compelled to return. The Eighty-fifth Brigade have reached Museyis, on the Middle Euphrates. and fecund the bridge across the river partly destroyed.
