VALEDICTORY.
The members of, the staff of the Otaihape Farmers’ Meat and- Produce Company foregathered in the office at the works co bid farewell to the late manage,! 1 , Mr. P, S. Carroll. j In presenting Mr. Carroll with a handsome silver tea set, Mr. Kirschberg, in a real little speech eulogized Mr. Carroll’s many good qualities, and expressed the general .regret of the staff at his departure, and conlluded with calling for three cheers for the departing guest, which were heartily given. -
In replying, Mr. Carroll thanked thoae present ;for their wi-hes and pjresent, land- remarked! itha;: it was ■with gret personal regret he was leaving them, as his relations with them had been most amicable, even in the stress of the busy season, and he would always think kindly of them. In concluding he hoped the members of the staff would accord Mr. Davis, his successor, the same devotion to duty as they had to him, and said “He was sure the would find him a good man in every way.”
