FIRE BRIGADE BALL.
The second annual ball under .'the auspices of the Taihape Volunteer Fire V Brigade was the most successful ball held this season. The,re was an attendance of nearly eighty couples, and the function was not oiily a financial success, but- a thorough social success as wsll. The music was supplied by the Taihape Orchestra, which comprised nine players, and was thoroughly appreciated- The hall, stage, and supper-room were most artistically decorated with greenery, flags, drapings, trellis-work and co cured lights, the effect being very fine. The floor was good, and worked up to a fine polish after the first few dances. The supper arrangements were excellent in •very way, and reflected great credit on ithe committee of ladies who had done so much to make the ball a success. It is generally admitted that the function'waS easily the best of ithe season and that the work done by the committee was most successful inasmuch as it resu ted in the accomplishment of what was aimed at: namely, the most enjoyable function of the season.
