Dr Taylor, in his Presidential ad'dress at the Medical Congress, dealing with the navy and military medical services, said that compound fractures of bone had left an immense legacy of patients with septic fluid in their bones, necessitating judicious operative treatment for years to come. The value of pronctive inoculation against the enteric group of diseases was bound to have farreaching and beneficial results in civilian life in Australia. Thanks to inoculation, there were only 266 deaths iu the whole pf the British Army in France, as against ten thousand deaths among the troops in South Africa ' ~
