RETURNED SOLDIERS’ DANCE.
The fourth of the series of dances in aid of the Taihape Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in, the Throe Stars Theatre on Thursday evening, when there was a good attendance. The floor was in perfect condition and the supper dnd other arrangements left nothing to be desired. The music was supplied by Mrs J. Webb in her usual capable style, and Mr S. Dunbar officiated a s M.C. Two new dances, the Maxina and the Destiny Waltz, were included in -the programme, and were greatly appreciated.
BOXING. GISBORNE, July 16. At the boxing tournament this evening Jimmy dabby met Les Gleesou for a purse of £3OO. ' Gleescn was outclassed from the- beginning. In the tenth round ho was sent down fto| eigth seconds. During the following round Gleescn wag again knocked down. He rose at seven seconds,, and dropped o a a knee instantly, but; was technically on his feet althougha beaten man, when the referee, who had gone on counting, called “out.”
