Mr‘ P. Fraser (Wellington, Central) gave notice on .We,dnes‘day to ask the Prime Minister Whether he will introduce at an early date a motion urging the Imperial Government to grant self-determination to Ireland; or, if ndt, whether he will give an opportunity’ for such a motion to be introduced-rand discussed. Mr Fraser urged that “at a time when the Alliednaiions have acknowledged the right of self-determina-tion to many of the Smaller European faces and nationalities it is surely an absurd anomaly, not to ‘mention injustice, that Ireland should still he kept in political subjection against the emphatically expressed wish Vof the vast majority of its people.” In view of the excessive cost of exportingdthe surplus produce of the Dominion will the Government take measures to secure, at the ear-lisst possible date, a. Government mercantile fleet of steamers, in order that producers and cronsuimirs may not be entirely at the mercy of shipping combines‘!
