LONDON, May 8
The British Society of Meat Importers, including Australasian importers, met with a view of urging discontrol as soon as supplies arc sufficient to meet the demands. The Society aims at resuming old connections with Dominions, and resinning free competition with the American imports.
ALLEGED WRONGFUL DISMISSAL.
AUCKLAND, May 15.
In the Supreme Court, an action by Dr. Percy W. Menzies against the Bay of Island Hospital Board, claiming £5Ol damages for alleged wrongful dismissal from the post of medical superintendent, concluded this morning, when, it was announced that plaintiff, on the advice of his counsel, abandoned his claim, and agreed to each side to pay its own costs. Proceedings Avill accordingly be stayed. BODY OF DROWNED MAN IDENTIFIED. AUCKLAND, this day. The body of the man killed on the railway near the waterfront was identified by a boarding-house keeper as a stranger who slept on his premises on Monday night. The name, "Nelson," on the hat corresponds with the name on a parcel left by him at a boardinghouses
