FORGIVE AND FORGET.
Every homecomer from the 'occupied Rhine bridgeheads brings stories of the frantic efforts of the Hun to ingratiate himself with, his conquerors, says the Daily Mail. Captains of industry vie with waiters and hairdressers in the desire to promote a. forgive-and-forget policy, which, of course, is systematic German propaganda. A striking and characteristic revelation of German anxiety t'o kiss and make up has just come to light. An American company which before the war had'*large works in Germany—one near Madgcburg and another on the Bhine —received a communication from the German authorities to the effect that the companies' factories are quite intact and ready to be restored. They have been so successfully worked by the Germans since 13*17 (when the United states entered the war) that accumulated profits of £50,000 will be turned over whenever applied for! Th e profits were derived both from munition production and from the purpose for which the factories were originally built.
