KING’S THEATRE. Francis Bushman and Beverly Bayne are seen in ‘ * Their Compact ’ ’ to singular advantage in parts that suit them admirably. The play itself is full of action and there is romance, adventure, excitement, suspense and a strong climax. “ Their Compact,” is a mining story. The life of “Silverville” is graphically shown. Mr Bushman plays James Van Dyke Moore, a New Yorker who goes West to take care of his mining properties, James Van Dyke Moore is ia man of his word and ho never fails to keep a promise. He makes one promise that he regrets—but he keeps it. Especially does he regret it after he has seen adorable Mollie Anderson (Beverly Bayne.) There are some wonderful fights with the miners—and who can put up a better fight than Bushman? There is adventure, excitement, peril—and finally the sun shining after the storm. “Their Compact,” is one of the most gripping, vital, forceful photodramas ever screened —a worthy vehicle for these two superb stars. This programme will be shown positively for one night only. To-morrow night - the child actress, Mable Ernam in “The Adventurous” of Carol,” and the 4th episode of the “Neglected Wife.” THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. TOWN HALL, TO-NIGHT. The Scarlet Troubadours, who appear at the Town Hall this evening, have earned the reputation of being able to present a smart and clever entertainment devoid of any dull moments. In other words, their programmes are said to be admirably varied, with music and comedy well blended. The Wellington Times say: “The Scarlet Troubadours were thoroughly successful in demonstrating that they form one of the most engaging costumed, Musical and Burlesque Company which have ever visited 'Wellington. There is not a weak spot in t(he 'whole (programme!. ’ ’ Miss Lalla Ward and Miss Madeline Knight, the soprano and contralto respectively, aided by Mr Renn Millar, the Company’s excellent baritone, and Mr. William Harrison who is claimed to be an excellent tenor, are the leaders of the- section. On the lighter comedy side Miss Hilda McMurtry, in association with Messrs. Andrew Pace, Reg. Hawthorne and George Livingston make a strong combination.
