FELL INTO BOILING SPRING. MAORI DIES OF INJURIES. ROTORUA, October 1. A Maori, Haira Himiona, 60 years of age, fell into a boiling spring in the native reserve at Whakarewarewa on Saturday night, and died an hour later. His daughter, hearing a'splash, went to the spring, saw her father’s hand above the water, and called her brother. The latter rushed to the spring and pulled his father out, hut medical aid proved of no use. A verdict of acidental death wms returned at the inquest to-day, when the coroner, Mr. W. G. K. Kenrick, S.M., stated that he would make a recommendation to Tourist Department to take steps to protect the public by fencing dangerous hot springs.
