The maintenance of the very high I prestige attained by the. Manawatii and West Coast A. and P. Association, in its two important shows is alw&ys I the first care of its very progressive ij committee. The forthcoming event, , which, as will be seen from our ad- ! vertising columns, is set down for the 30th and 31st October next, is not to be any exception to the rule. Pri'ze schedules are available now, and an. inspection reveals a very comprehen-" " sive and generous list of prizes and" trophies. ' Ail important feature' of the show always is the jumping,which constitutes one of the greatest at- | tractions to the public outside stock- ! breeders, the Open Hunters' Competition at Palmerstcn North being recogs nisea as tne premier event m its class. This event has been made doubly attractive to competitors this year by the increase of first prize money to fifty guineas, and it is expected that a very large field of the picked jumpers from both Islands will compete. Special prizes have been allotted for Romney, Lincoln and commercial fleeces of any breed or cross. This shouTd command a large display of wool, which will be both educative and interesting. Space does not permit us to make a survey of the 'whole schedule, "but copies can be had on app/ication to the secretary, Box 85, Palmerston North. Entries for schools, Needlework, Cookery, and Photography must be made/ by October sth, live stock, competitors, and wool classes by fhe 18th October.
