HOCKEY.

A hockey match was played yesterday afternoon between the Old Girls 7 Hockey Club and the Huia Hockey Club, and resulted in a win for the Huias by 2 to nib The game in the first spell showed several weaknesses on both sides, but taking heed to the advice of the coach the play improved considerably and in the second hslf both teams showed much. better form, and at times the play was brilliant. There is no doubt that with a little more practice and coaching both teams will turn out very good players. Miss Laurenson scored in the first half for the Huias and Miss Dowling a few minutes before time scored. The Huias have challenged the Eangataua Club, and the match will be played at Eangataua on Monday.

Last night Mrs Webb gave a party and dance to the hockey payers at her residence and a ven evening was spent. A eut&ffe content was arranged, seven tables being occupied. The gentleman’s prize (donby Mr. feond) was won by Mr. Hamil, the ladies prize (a ladies’ hairbrush, donated by Mrs. Webb) was won by Miss Bremner. The booby’s prizes were won by Miss Hebberd and Mr. O’Keefe.
