RECORD ACREAGE UNDER CR.QPS SEVEN MILLION AND A-HALF '' ' TONS. Received 8.55 a.m. '• LONDON, May 28. The Press Bureair reports the April census 'show’s the total acreage of wheat in ' England and Wales Is the highest on record since 1882, and the area in barley is the highest recorded by twenty per cent., and the area under potatoes is the highest recorded by twenty-seven per cent. The Director-General of Food Production states there is a net saving of shipping resulting from the increasing production in corn and potatoes in England and Wales alone should amount in the coming year to li million tens.
