AMERICA.

AMERICA’S ARMY. TWO MILLION THIS YEAR. WASHINGTON, May 20. It is officially announced that the Americans hold more front line trenches than the Belgians, who until recently ranked next to the British. It is also officially intimated that as a result of arrangements for forwarding troops this year there is a possibility of more than two million being sent overseas. Allowing for casualties the American forces will number close on two millions before the end of the year. The fact that American troops were brigaded with the British enables British supplies to bo used, thus affording a great increase in shipping room for the transport of troops. AMERICA'S COSMOPOLITAN ARMY. MILLIONAIRES, PROFESSORS, PUGILISTS. THE MAKING OF SPLENDID SOLDIERS. Received 8.45 a.m. LONDON, May 21. Mr. "Perry Robinson, describing th.® American invasion on the British front, says that the ranks contain everything from millionaires and professors to pugilists. There is enough theatrical talent to supply half a do& en theatres. None have ventured to count the number of nationalities* There is a pure-blooded Chinaman on the Staff and Germans everywhere* Many of the best non-coms, are Jews* All are fused in the magician’s melt-ing-pot of fire, beneath which Is the pride in “Old Glory.” They have much to learn, but will soon know more than the average Tommy or poilu. They have adopted British rules of equipment.
