AMUSEMENTS

KING’S THEATRE. There Avas a very appreciative audience at the King’s last night, when a programme of exceptional interest was shoAvn. Quite the best scenic, in that it was shOAvn on different lines, was the film shoAving Rex. Beach,, 1 the famous author and traveller, on his journeyings - It is safe to say that Rex Beach would venture into localities that Avould not appeal to the average “movie man,” and the result is a picture of an unique character. These secnies Avill run through a series. The star, “Sealed Valley,” is also a picture on a theme as old as America, but is treated in such an unusual man-

ner as to make it one of the best of its kind Ave Have seen. The interest goes on increasing until the denouement is reached, added to AA r hich some ' of the most remarkable photographs of beautiful scenery are disclosed. The [ programme will be shown to-night for I the last time, EVERYBODY'S. The swift, sharp action, and fire of ( a military camp run through the new ' William Fox picture in AA'hich Theda Bara appears, “Under Two Flags,” It is a dramatisation of Ouida’s famous novel, conceived in all splendor and glory with winch the author wrote the book Avhich has captivated all readers. The story is closely followed and the producer has succeeded very happily in introducing a fine atmosphere into the Algeria scenes and those representing the ride across the desert, Avhich, but for the fact that one knows they Avere made in California, might have been taken in Algeria itself. The production is noteworthy, however, for other things besides its excellent backgrounds and the scene that will attract most attention by reason of , its sensational character, is the chase of Cigarette by the Arabs and its climax, Avhich pro\ 7 ides one of the most thrilling incidents ever projected upon the screen. Indeed, avo arc not sure that it is not, from some points of view, too realistic, for avc sec horses and rides dash over a cliff and drop into the water bcloAV, Avith every indication that some at last, to those Avho toolf part did not escape scatheless. ,“Under Two Flags” is one of the best of the Fox Film productions yet ,seen on this side and the attendance will doubtless pan out in accordance Avith this fact. AUSTRALIAN GAIETY COMPANY. The above combination, which has been greeted Avith croAvded houses and appreciate audiences in the various Main Trunk centres, will undoubtedly be accorded a good house in the Toavu Hall on Friday night, All the members of the combination excel in their own particular line,'and the management has so arranged that nothing but the latest and inost up-to-date numbers are presented. To those Avho love a good laugh and are fond of good music, the programme should immediately appeal. The hypnotic demonstration by Les Delmira is said to be unique in its way, andl altogether the Company present a highly interesting and well-balanced programme.
