THE FATE OF THE CYCLOPS. Received 9.15 a.m. WASHINGTON, April 19. Mrs. Worley, wife of the captain of the Cyclops, says the vessel is safe in an American port, but officials do not confirm it or credit it. BRITISH MARINE LOSSES. REPLY TO GERMANY. Received 8.45 a.m. LONDON, April 19. The Admiralty, replying to Admiral von Capelle’s statement that the" enemy still relies upon exaggerated stories of losses, states the average I monthly loss .of British ships last year, including marine risk, was 333,000 gross tons;-whereas Capelle bases his 1 - argument on an average loss from -submarines- alone of 1100,000 T tons monthly. The figures for- last; quar>. ter' ended March 31 will .be vp uhlished; shortly, and will- vindicate the ' statemepts regarding -a' continuance of/ the' drop in”the rate of loss. The First ■ Sea Lord' has already assured the House .of Commons as re-,, gards the adequacy , of the supply of steel to .give the depired output, and presently all shipyards. will -he fully supplied therewith. ,/ #
