French shipping returns: —Arrivals 793, departures 751, sinkings, 5 over and 1 below 1600 tons; unsuccessfully attacked.
BIG DROP IN LOSSES.
LONDON, January 16
The Admiralty reports arrivals for the week 2106, and sailings 2184. Six vessels over, and tw r o under sixteen hundred tons were sunk, and five were unsuccessfully attacked. Two fishing boats were sunk.
THE YARMOUTH BOMBARDMENT
REPRISAL FOR BRITISH AIR
RAID
LONDON, Jan 16
It is presumed that the shelling of Yarmouth was a reprisal for, the British air raids upon Germany. It is doubtful whether it was a submarine or a cruiser that Avas responsible, as some of the shells were over-large for a submarine. The vessel dashed past the tow r n, firing as she went.
Three more deaoths have occurred as a result of the Yarmouth bombardment. ~~
THE OFFICIAL REPORT,
LONDON, Jan 17
Official.—ln the Yarmouth bombardment the casualties were four killed and eight injured. . Altogether 50 shells were fired. ;
