TAIHAPE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the District High School Committee was held last night, Mr A. J. Joblin in the chair. The resignation of Mrs Botfield as caretaker of the school was received, to take effect at end of year. The matter of filling ‘the vacancy -was left the hands of the chairman and secretary to deal with. The Headmaster’s report was read as follows:—Twenty-four candidates were presented for the efficiency examination on Friday last, the results of which are not yet to hand. We have had considerable difficulty in procuring ink and foolscap for the various examinations this year. I would respectfully apply to the committee for a lawn mower and a spirometer. The latter is used to test the effect of the corrective exercises on the pupils taking the special! course. The school breaks up for the summer holidays, at noon on the 19th of December, and reopens on Ist February. As the examinations for the Sixth Standard and for the Secondary Department are now over the attendance in these classes will be poor for the rest of the year
The report was adopted. Messrs Joblin and Kearins were appointed the visiting committee for the current month.
The question of filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr De Loree was brought up, and it was decided to request Mr Swindells to allow himself to be nominated for the vacancy.
